An Important Message from the Chairman of the Board of Tetragenex Pharmaceuticals Inc.
A Letter from the Chairman of the Board, Martin F. Schacker, to the Shareholders.
After 18 years of working on the development of Nemifitide, an antidepressant to treat refractory (treatment resistant) patients, Tetragenex Medical Tourism, LLC has entered into an agreement with, PROESA (Provision, Sabiduria y Entendimiento S. A) A Guatemalan healthcare company, who is expected to start treatment on qualified refractory patients from North and South America. Tetragenex Medical Tourism, LLC will provide medical tourism and document forwarding service for Proesa so it's affiliate in Guatemala can determine if Nemifitide might benefit potential patients.
Treatment resistant depression (also known as refractory depression) is a medical condition where patients do not respond to most available anti-depressant and other depression treatments and have a history of not responding. Approximately 10% of the 30 million people who have been diagnosed with depression in America have been classified as treatment resistant.
Development of Nemifitide was started in the United States in 1994 and over a 10 year period the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) gave permission to execute a preclinical, phase one and almost a complete phase to program complete a full phase two program which include close to 430 patients in 13 human clinical trials. During normal clinical trials Dr. John Feighner, regarded as a world opinion leader in psychiatry, discovered that Nemifitide was effective for severely treatment resistant patients. This prompted him to perform a study on severe refractory patients. Close to 50% of the people treated in this study responded to Nemifitide. The results were later published in a highly respected psychiatric journal (International Psychopharmacology. This study can be found at tetragenex.com/study.
Unlike other treatments which have major side-effect such as, impotence, sexual dysfunction, weight gain, sleep disorders and suicidal tendencies, Nemifitide has virtually no side effects.
After presenting the data to the Guatemalan government, PROESA has been granted permission to treat refractory patients at their clinics. PROESA is a healthcare company which has been doing business in numerous countries in North and South America for over 25 years.
Tetragenex makes travel arrangements, concierge and other necessary accommodations to those deemed by PROESA to be candidates to be treated in Guatemala. The treatment and tourism program is approximately two weeks, and patients may have to return every 4 to 8 months for re-treatment.
Sincerely,
Martin F. Schacker
